5. Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore Roosevelt is the only third party candidate who ever finished second in a Presidential election, with 88 electoral votes in 1912. The Republican candidate, William Howard Taft, finished third with 8 votes. Woodrow Wilson defeated both of them handily with 435 votes. George Wallace received 46 electoral votes in 1968; Robert LaFollette received 13 in 1924. Neither Eugene V. Debs or Ross Perot ever received an electoral vote.
