1. John Hospers, Libertarian
In 1972, one Republican elector from Virginia defected from casting his vote for Richard Nixon and instead cast his vote for the Libertarian candidate. George Wallace received votes, but in the 1968 election. Neither Ross Perot, John Anderson nor Henry Wallace received any electoral votes.
